ANC Provincial Conference to be held on 30 April - 02 May 2021

The ANC in Northern Cape will host its 9th Provincial Conference from 30 April to 2 May 2021. The Provincial Conference will take place under the theme: “ Unity, Renewal and Reconstruction in the year of Charlotte Maxeke”.

The delay of the ANC Provincial Conference can be attributed to the Bi-Annual Branch General Meetings (BBGMs) which had to be postponed twice due to the COVID-19 Alert Level 3 regulations. Due to the COVID-19 regulations and guidelines,  the ANC Provincial Conference will take the form of a Hybrid Event. The number of delegates who will participate in the Provincial Conference far exceeds the number prescribed by Alert Level 1 in terms of the disaster management regulations.

All ANC Branches will qualify for 3 delegates for the first 100 members, thereafter, 1 delegate per +100 members. To accommodate all the delegates, whilst adhering to the COVID-19 regulations, regional delegates will be required to assemble at a central point in their respective regions. The venues per Region as identified is as follow:

-Namakwa: Namakwa Guest Farm

-Frances Baard:  Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre (Voting delegates) and Jim Summers Hall ( Non- voting delegates)

-Pixley Ka Seme: De Aar Town Hall

-John Taolo Gaetsewe: Thabo Moorosi Multi-Purpose Hall

-ZF Mgcawu: Eiland Holiday Resort

Total number of delegates that we expect at the 9th Provincial Conference stands at 683. The conference will take place in line with the national guidelines and rules endorsed by the NEC. Disciplinary action or criminal charges will be instituted against any trespassers at the Conference venues.

The ANC appointed Elexion as the Electoral Agency to manage BBGMs and the Provincial Conference. They have experience about the dynamics in the Province and will be able to deal with any eventuality that might arise in the build-up to and at Provincial Conference.

The ANC has resolved that each Region will be regarded as a Commission. Presentations will be done to Regional Commissions which will focus on the following areas.

-Social Transformation and Covid-19

-Economic Transformation

-Building the organisation

-State of municipalities & Local Government Elections

Regional Commissions will be afforded 2h 30 minutes on each of the Commissions and thereafter report to the Provincial Plenary.

In conclusion,  the ANC in the Northern Cape can declare that we have put all the systems in place to ensure a successful Provincial Conference. We have established Committee's, which will deal with each and every aspect of the Provincial Conference. We call on all our members and delegates for their utmost discipline at all times, up to and during the Provincial Conference. Documents or paraphernalia can only be distributed to delegates with the express permission and approval of the Steering Committee.
