ANC Statement on the Phokwane Municipality Council Meeting

The African National Congress in the Northern Cape has learnt with dissappointment of the non- attendance of ANC Councillors in the Phokwane Municipality to a council meeting that was held today, 17 July 2019. The council meeting was convened to elect Cde Keamogetse Mothibi and Cde Fana Molola as Mayor and Speaker respectively.

The current situation at the Municipality calls for all ANC councillors to work together to ensure that we normalise the municipality and continue delivering services to community members. This we are unable to do without political leadership in the municipality and it is the residents that suffer most, as they are the ones who have had to endure interrupted delivery of services.

The Council meeting will reconvene on Wednesday 24 July and it is expected that all ANC councillors attend the council meeting, failure which councillors will be subjected to a disciplinary hearing.

We once again would like to apologise to all residents in the municipal area and would like to assure them that things will soon normalise at the municipality.
