PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE STATEMENT
The African National Congress in the Northern Cape convened an ordinary Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting, 11 July 2019 in Kimberley. The PEC meeting is the first ordinary PEC meeting after the General elections held in May and therefore necessitated that the Provincial Executive Committee do a frank and in-depth analysis of the election results and what needed to be done. The PEC agreed that the drop in electoral support meant that there needs to be an increase in the pace of change in our communities. The PEC further agreed that there is a need to address the three subjective weaknesses within the organisation, which are; 1. Factionalism, Political Arrogance as well as being viewed as self-serving. Addressing these weaknesses will ensure that we strengthen our renewal agenda as an organisation.
The PEC further looked at the state of the organisation, making honest reflections of the organisation, at a Provincial and Regional level, how the organisation relates to the Alliance as well as MDM formations in the province. The PEC reflected on the state of the Youth League, the Womens League and the Veterans league in the Province.
